Mid-South OTI Education Center
Serving Region VI - Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Texas
Alliance Safety Council and Louisiana State University Consortium Selected by OSHA to Become New OSHA Training Institute (OTI) Education Center Serving Region VI

The U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration selected the Alliance Safety Council and Louisiana State University’s College of Engineering consortium as one of only four new OSHA Training Institute (OTI) Education Centers across the country. The OTI Education Center will be named the Mid-South Education Center and will offer training courses on OSHA standards and occupational safety and health issues.  The center will serve Region VI, which covers
a five-state area—Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas.

Only two OTI Education Centers previously existed in the entire five-state region.  The addition of the Louisiana consortium brings expanded opportunities for safety and health training for workers and employers.  The new OTI centers were selected through a nationwide competition. Applicant organizations were evaluated based on organizational expertise, staff experience, location and training facilities, marketing and recruitment, and the ability to provide training throughout a given region.

Classes will be conducted utilizing a large network of training facilities throughout the five-state region and at LSU campuses across the state of Louisiana.  Courses will be available to students beginning in fall 2013.
